Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme

The FMCS allows foreign manufacturers to export their products to India legally by demonstrating that their goods comply with Indian Standards. Under this scheme, successful applicants are granted a license to use the highly recognized ISI mark on their products.

Crucial Requirement: The AIR

A paramount requirement for the FMCS application is the appointment of an Authorized Indian Representative (AIR). The AIR acts as the local liaison between the BIS authorities and the foreign manufacturer.

The FMCS Process

Submission

Prepare technical dossiers and submit the application via the ManakOnline portal.

Factory Audit

BIS auditors conduct a comprehensive inspection at the overseas manufacturing unit.

Product Testing

Samples are drawn and tested in BIS-recognized laboratories within India.

License Grant

Upon successful completion, the license is granted, valid for up to 5 years.
